Anyone who just got a mock interview report
How to Read Your Interview Report
An AI interview score is a practice signal based on the recorded conversation, not a prediction of an offer. Read the answer summary and missed points alongside the score, check them against what you said, and choose one concrete change to rehearse. In MockWise, a completed interview keeps its report; further scored practice requires a new interview.

How should I interpret an AI interview score?
MockWise asks the report generator for scores on a 0–10 scale, an overall recommendation and reasons. A recommendation such as Lean Hire or Borderline is AI-generated practice feedback. It is not an employer decision, a probability of being hired, or an independently validated readiness threshold.
Named fields make feedback easier to inspect, but they do not establish measurement reliability. Different questions, difficulty settings, transcript quality and model output can change a score. A lower number does not by itself show regression, and a higher number does not prove mastery.
OPM: structured interviews: Describes job-related questions and shared rating standards in structured assessments; it does not validate MockWise scores.
What do the report fields mean?
Interview summary
Start with strengths, weaknesses, top improvement areas and topics to revise. Check whether each statement is supported by an answer from this session rather than a skill listed only on your resume.
Question analysis
Each question can include your answer summary, an ideal summary, scores, strengths, missed points, a suggested better answer and follow-up questions. Compare the summaries before acting: a misheard or omitted sentence can change the critique.
Per-question evaluation
The requested fields include technical accuracy, communication, confidence, problem solving, depth of knowledge and practical experience. Their relevance depends on the question. No published fixed weighting formula or company-calibrated score is established here.
Communication review
Structure, clarity, conciseness and storytelling appear in a separate session-level review. A confidence label inferred from text does not measure body language or diagnose anxiety. This report is based on conversation text, not a complete observation of delivery.
Gaps and learning roadmap
Treat topics and immediate, short-, medium- and long-term actions as suggestions to verify and prioritize. A suggested better answer may introduce details that were not yours; remove invented experience, metrics and claims before rehearsing it.
Worked example: turn one missed point into an answer change
Synthetic example: the question, answer, feedback and 5.5/10 score below are invented for teaching. This is not a user report, a product benchmark or evidence of improvement.
Original answer
Question: Tell me about a deadline conflict. Answer: We disagreed about scope, had a meeting and shipped. The answer omits who made the decision, the alternatives and how the result was checked.
Illustrative report finding
Overall question score: 5.5/10. Missed point: your personal contribution and the outcome are unclear. Check that finding against the original words; do not infer an exact scoring penalty from this example.
Possible revision
I owned the release plan. I asked design and engineering to list which parts were essential, proposed moving the optional export to a later release, and recorded agreement from both leads. The essential workflow shipped on the agreed date; our release checklist confirmed the acceptance tests passed. These details are also synthetic: replace them with facts you can defend.
Next drill
Explain why you chose that scope cut, what the other person objected to, and what you would change. The exercise checks explanation and evidence, not whether a number automatically rises.
National Careers Service: the STAR method: Explains Situation, Task, Action and Result, including what was learned; a result need not be an invented percentage.
How can I improve after a mock interview?
- Check the transcript or answer summary for mistakes before treating the feedback as accurate.
- Choose one gap that matters to your upcoming round. Write the original claim, the missing evidence and one practice action.
- Verify any technical correction against documentation; for a personal story, recover the actual facts from your own notes.
- Rehearse the revised answer independently or in practice chat. A practice conversation does not replace the completed interview report.
- If you want another scored report, create a new interview and check its credit cost. Generated questions may differ; the same question is not guaranteed.
- Compare the explanations and evidence across sessions with similar topics and difficulty. Also try a fresh follow-up to test understanding.
MockWise pricing: Check the current offer before starting another scored session: 30 minutes costs one credit and 60 minutes costs two.
What should I do when a score or finding seems wrong?
Keep the specific disputed sentence and the reason you disagree. For a technical issue, attach a documentation reference; for a transcript issue, identify what was actually said. A missing critique in a later report does not prove the gap is gone.
A No Data report with zero score means there were no candidate answers to evaluate, not that your ability is zero. Ask a knowledgeable reviewer to check high-impact technical or career claims when possible.
Reports can contain personal and employer information. The service stores transcripts and uses AI providers as described in the privacy policy. Avoid sharing confidential material, and review any excerpt before sending it to a peer.
MockWise privacy policy: Explains stored resumes, transcripts and reports, provider processing and deletion choices. Sharing an excerpt still requires your judgment.
Example questions and ideal structure
My overall score is 5.8. What should I do next?
Ideal structure: Check the answer summaries, choose one supported missed point, verify the correction and rehearse it. Create a new interview only if another scored session is useful; 5.8 is not a hiring cutoff.
Tip: Write the action in words before tracking the number.
My score rose from 5 to 7.5. Did I improve?
Ideal structure: Compare the question, difficulty, answer content and feedback. Look for clearer evidence or corrected reasoning, then test a new follow-up. The score change alone cannot distinguish learning from grading variability.
The rewrite includes an achievement I never had. Can I use it?
Ideal structure: Keep a useful structure but replace the achievement with your own evidence. If no numerical result exists, describe an observable outcome and what you learned; never borrow invented facts.
How to prepare
- Log the question, one disputed or supported finding, the evidence and the next drill.
- Use comparable practice conditions without treating AI scores as a statistical confidence interval.
- Review technical corrections and personal claims before repeating them.
FAQs
Are AI interview scores objective?
They are generated judgments over the conversation text. Named criteria can make them inspectable, but accuracy, repeatability and hiring prediction have not been established by this guide.
Can I re-record inside a completed interview to change its report?
No. A completed MockWise interview cannot be restarted for replacement answers. Rehearse independently or in practice chat; create a new interview for another scored report and check the credit cost.
Why did my score drop?
Possible reasons include different questions, difficulty, transcript errors, less complete answers or model variability. Compare the evidence before assigning a cause; a drop does not automatically mean either progress or regression.
Does anyone else see my reports?
Reports are account data. The privacy policy explains provider processing, retention and deletion, and any sharing you choose can expose the material to others. Do not interpret private account access as a promise that no provider processes the content.
